¹ H3068 And it came to pass, when the LORD H5927 would take up [H8687]   H452 Elijah H8064 into heaven H5591 by a whirlwind H452 , that Elijah H3212 went [H8799]   H477 with Elisha H1537 from Gilgal.

² H452 And Elijah H559 said [H8799]   H477 unto Elisha H3427 , Tarry [H8798]   H3068 here, I pray thee; for the LORD H7971 hath sent [H8804]   H1008 me to Bethel H477 . And Elisha H559 said [H8799]   H3068 unto him, As the LORD H2416 liveth H5315 , and as thy soul H2416 liveth H5800 , I will not leave [H8799]   H3381 thee. So they went down [H8799]   H1008 to Bethel.

³ H1121 And the sons H5030 of the prophets H1008 that were at Bethel H3318 came forth [H8799]   H477 to Elisha H559 , and said [H8799]   H3045 unto him, Knowest [H8804]   H3068 thou that the LORD H3947 will take away [H8802]   H113 thy master H7218 from thy head H3117 to day H559 ? And he said [H8799]   H3045 , Yea, I know [H8804]   H2814 it; hold ye your peace [H8685]  .

⁴ H452 And Elijah H559 said [H8799]   H477 unto him, Elisha H3427 , tarry [H8798]   H3068 here, I pray thee; for the LORD H7971 hath sent [H8804]   H3405 me to Jericho H559 . And he said [H8799]   H3068 , As the LORD H2416 liveth H5315 , and as thy soul H2416 liveth H5800 , I will not leave [H8799]   H935 thee. So they came [H8799]   H3405 to Jericho.

⁵ H1121 And the sons H5030 of the prophets H3405 that were at Jericho H5066 came [H8799]   H477 to Elisha H559 , and said [H8799]   H3045 unto him, Knowest [H8804]   H3068 thou that the LORD H3947 will take away [H8802]   H113 thy master H7218 from thy head H3117 to day H559 ? And he answered [H8799]   H3045 , Yea, I know [H8804]   H2814 it; hold ye your peace [H8685]  .

⁶ H452 And Elijah H559 said [H8799]   H3427 unto him, Tarry [H8798]   H3068 , I pray thee, here; for the LORD H7971 hath sent [H8804]   H3383 me to Jordan H559 . And he said [H8799]   H3068 , As the LORD H2416 liveth H5315 , and as thy soul H2416 liveth H5800 , I will not leave [H8799]   H8147 thee. And they two H3212 went on [H8799]  .

⁷ H2572 And fifty H376 men H1121 of the sons H5030 of the prophets H1980 went [H8804]   H5975 , and stood [H8799]   H5048 to view H7350 afar off H8147 : and they two H5975 stood [H8804]   H3383 by Jordan.

⁸ H452 And Elijah H3947 took [H8799]   H155 his mantle H1563 , and wrapped it together [H8799]   H5221 , and smote [H8686]   H4325 the waters H2673 , and they were divided [H8735]   H8147 hither and thither, so that they two H5674 went over [H8799]   H2724 on dry ground.

⁹ H5674 And it came to pass, when they were gone over [H8800]   H452 , that Elijah H559 said [H8804]   H477 unto Elisha H7592 , Ask [H8798]   H6213 what I shall do [H8799]   H3947 for thee, before I be taken away [H8735]   H477 from thee. And Elisha H559 said [H8799]   H8147 , I pray thee, let a double H6310 portion H7307 of thy spirit be upon me.

¹⁰ H559 And he said [H8799]   H7592 , Thou hast asked [H8800]   H7185 a hard thing [H8689]   H7200 : nevertheless, if thou see [H8799]   H3947 me when I am taken [H8795]   from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so .

¹¹ H1980 And it came to pass, as they still [H8800]   H1980 went on [H8802]   H1696 , and talked [H8763]   H7393 , that, behold, there appeared a chariot H784 of fire H5483 , and horses H784 of fire H6504 , and parted [H8686]   H8147 them both H996 asunder H452 ; and Elijah H5927 went up [H8799]   H5591 by a whirlwind H8064 into heaven.

¹² H477 And Elisha H7200 saw [H8802]   H6817 it, and he cried [H8764]   H1 , My father H1 , my father H7393 , the chariot H3478 of Israel H6571 , and the horsemen H7200 thereof. And he saw [H8804]   H2388 him no more: and he took hold [H8686]   H899 of his own clothes H7167 , and rent [H8799]   H8147 them in two H7168 pieces.

¹³ H7311 He took up [H8686]   H155 also the mantle H452 of Elijah H5307 that fell [H8804]   H7725 from him, and went back [H8799]   H5975 , and stood [H8799]   H8193 by the bank H3383 of Jordan;

¹⁴ H3947 And he took [H8799]   H155 the mantle H452 of Elijah H5307 that fell [H8804]   H5221 from him, and smote [H8686]   H4325 the waters H559 , and said [H8799]   H3068 , Where is the LORD H430 God H452 of Elijah H5221 ? and when he also had smitten [H8686]   H4325 the waters H2673 , they parted [H8735]   H477 hither and thither: and Elisha H5674 went over [H8799]  .

¹⁵ H1121 And when the sons H5030 of the prophets H3405 which were to view at Jericho H7200 saw [H8799]   H559 him, they said [H8799]   H7307 , The spirit H452 of Elijah H5117 doth rest [H8804]   H477 on Elisha H935 . And they came [H8799]   H7125 to meet [H8800]   H7812 him, and bowed [H8691]   H776 themselves to the ground before him.

¹⁶ H559 And they said [H8799]   H3426 unto him, Behold now, there be H5650 with thy servants H2572 fifty H2428 strong H1121 men H582   H3212 ; let them go [H8799]   H1245 , we pray thee, and seek [H8762]   H113 thy master H7307 : lest peradventure the Spirit H3068 of the LORD H5375 hath taken him up [H8804]   H7993 , and cast [H8686]   H259 him upon some H2022 mountain H259 , or into some H1516 valley H559 . And he said [H8799]   H7971 , Ye shall not send [H8799]  .

¹⁷ H6484 And when they urged [H8799]   H954 him till he was ashamed [H8800]   H559 , he said [H8799]   H7971 , Send [H8798]   H7971 . They sent [H8799]   H2572 therefore fifty H376 men H1245 ; and they sought [H8762]   H7969 three H3117 days H4672 , but found [H8804]   him not.

¹⁸ H7725 And when they came again [H8799]   H3427 to him, (for he tarried [H8802]   H3405 at Jericho H559 ,) he said [H8799]   H559 unto them, Did I not say [H8804]   H3212 unto you, Go [H8799]   not?

¹⁹ H582 And the men H5892 of the city H559 said [H8799]   H477 unto Elisha H4186 , Behold, I pray thee, the situation H5892 of this city H2896 is pleasant H113 , as my lord H7200 seeth [H8802]   H4325 : but the water H7451 is naught H776 , and the ground H7921 barren [H8764]  .

²⁰ H559 And he said [H8799]   H3947 , Bring [H8798]   H2319 me a new H6746 cruse H7760 , and put [H8798]   H4417 salt H3947 therein. And they brought [H8799]   it to him.

²¹ H3318 And he went forth [H8799]   H4161 unto the spring H4325 of the waters H7993 , and cast [H8686]   H4417 the salt H559 in there, and said [H8799]   H559 , Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H7495 , I have healed [H8765]   H4325 these waters H4194 ; there shall not be from thence any more death H7921 or barren [H8764]   land .

²² H4325 So the waters H7495 were healed [H8735]   H3117 unto this day H1697 , according to the saying H477 of Elisha H1696 which he spake [H8765]  .

²³ H5927 And he went up [H8799]   H1008 from thence unto Bethel H5927 : and as he was going up [H8802]   H1870 by the way H3318 , there came forth [H8804]   H6996 little H5288 children H5892 out of the city H7046 , and mocked [H8691]   H559 him, and said [H8799]   H5927 unto him, Go up [H8798]   H7142 , thou bald head H5927 ; go up [H8798]   H7142 , thou bald head.

²⁴ H6437 And he turned [H8799]   H310 back H7200 , and looked [H8799]   H7043 on them, and cursed [H8762]   H8034 them in the name H3068 of the LORD H3318 . And there came forth [H8799]   H8147 two H1677 she bears H3293 out of the wood H1234 , and tare [H8762]   H705 forty H8147 and two H3206 children of them.

²⁵ H3212 And he went [H8799]   H2022 from thence to mount H3760 Carmel H7725 , and from thence he returned [H8804]   H8111 to Samaria.
