¹ H1697 The word H3414 that came to Jeremiah H3068 from the LORD H559 , saying [H8800]  ,

² H8085 Hear [H8798]   H1697 ye the words H1285 of this covenant H1696 , and speak [H8765]   H376 unto the men H3063 of Judah H3427 , and to the inhabitants [H8802]   H3389 of Jerusalem;

³ H559 And say [H8804]   H559 thou unto them, Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H779 ; Cursed [H8803]   H376 be the man H8085 that obeyeth [H8799]   H1697 not the words H1285 of this covenant,

⁴ H6680 Which I commanded [H8765]   H1 your fathers H3117 in the day H3318 that I brought them forth [H8687]   H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt H1270 , from the iron H3564 furnace H559 , saying [H8800]   H8085 , Obey [H8798]   H6963 my voice H6213 , and do [H8804]   H6680 them, according to all which I command [H8762]   H5971 you: so shall ye be my people H430 , and I will be your God:

⁵ H6965 That I may perform [H8687]   H7621 the oath H7650 which I have sworn [H8738]   H1 unto your fathers H5414 , to give [H8800]   H776 them a land H2100 flowing [H8802]   H2461 with milk H1706 and honey H3117 , as it is this day H6030 . Then answered [H8799]   H559 I, and said [H8799]   H543 , So be it H3068 , O LORD.

⁶ H3068 Then the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H7121 unto me, Proclaim [H8798]   H1697 all these words H5892 in the cities H3063 of Judah H2351 , and in the streets H3389 of Jerusalem H559 , saying [H8800]   H8085 , Hear [H8798]   H1697 ye the words H1285 of this covenant H6213 , and do [H8804]   them.

⁷ H5749 For I earnestly [H8687]   H5749 protested [H8689]   H1 unto your fathers H3117 in the day H5927 that I brought them up [H8687]   H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt H3117 , even unto this day H7925 , rising early [H8687]   H5749 and protesting [H8687]   H559 , saying [H8800]   H8085 , Obey [H8798]   H6963 my voice.

⁸ H8085 Yet they obeyed [H8804]   H5186 not, nor inclined [H8689]   H241 their ear H3212 , but walked [H8799]   H376 every one H8307 in the imagination H7451 of their evil H3820 heart H935 : therefore I will bring [H8686]   H1697 upon them all the words H1285 of this covenant H6680 , which I commanded [H8765]   H6213 them to do [H8800]   H6213 ; but they did [H8804]   them not.

⁹ H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H7195 unto me, A conspiracy H4672 is found [H8738]   H376 among the men H3063 of Judah H3427 , and among the inhabitants [H8802]   H3389 of Jerusalem.

¹⁰ H7725 They are turned back [H8804]   H5771 to the iniquities H7223 of their forefathers H1   H3985 , which refused [H8765]   H8085 to hear [H8800]   H1697 my words H1980 ; and they went [H8804]   H310 after H312 other H430 gods H5647 to serve [H8800]   H1004 them: the house H3478 of Israel H1004 and the house H3063 of Judah H6565 have broken [H8689]   H1285 my covenant H3772 which I made [H8804]   H1 with their fathers.

¹¹ H559 Therefore thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H935 , Behold, I will bring [H8688]   H7451 evil H3201 upon them, which they shall not be able [H8799]   H3318 to escape [H8800]   H2199 ; and though they shall cry [H8804]   H8085 unto me, I will not hearken [H8799]   unto them.

¹² H5892 Then shall the cities H3063 of Judah H3427 and inhabitants [H8802]   H3389 of Jerusalem H1980 go [H8804]   H2199 , and cry [H8804]   H430 unto the gods H6999 unto whom they offer incense [H8764]   H3467 : but they shall not save [H8686]   H3467 them at all [H8687]   H6256 in the time H7451 of their trouble.

¹³ H4557 For according to the number H5892 of thy cities H430 were thy gods H3063 , O Judah H4557 ; and according to the number H2351 of the streets H3389 of Jerusalem H7760 have ye set up [H8804]   H4196 altars H1322 to that shameful thing H4196 , even altars H6999 to burn incense [H8763]   H1168 unto Baal.

¹⁴ H6419 Therefore pray [H8691]   H5971 not thou for this people H5375 , neither lift up [H8799]   H7440 a cry H8605 or prayer H8085 for them: for I will not hear [H8802]   H6256 them in the time H7121 that they cry [H8800]   H7451 unto me for their trouble.

¹⁵ H3039 What hath my beloved H1004 to do in mine house H6213 , seeing she hath wrought [H8800]   H4209 lewdness H7227 with many H6944 , and the holy H1320 flesh H5674 is passed [H8799]   H7451 from thee? when thou doest evil H5937 , then thou rejoicest [H8799]  .

¹⁶ H3068 The LORD H7121 called [H8804]   H8034 thy name H7488 , A green H2132 olive tree H3303 , fair H8389 , and of goodly H6529 fruit H6963 : with the noise H1419 of a great H1999 tumult H3341 he hath kindled [H8689]   H784 fire H1808 upon it, and the branches H7489 of it are broken [H8804]  .

¹⁷ H3068 For the LORD H6635 of hosts H5193 , that planted [H8802]   H1696 thee, hath pronounced [H8765]   H7451 evil H1558 against thee, for H7451 the evil H1004 of the house H3478 of Israel H1004 and of the house H3063 of Judah H6213 , which they have done [H8804]   H3707 against themselves to provoke me to anger [H8687]   H6999 in offering incense [H8763]   H1168 unto Baal.

¹⁸ H3068 And the LORD H3045 hath given me knowledge [H8799]   H3045 of it, and I know [H8689]   H7200 it : then thou shewedst [H8689]   H4611 me their doings.

¹⁹ H3532 But I was like a lamb H441 or an ox H2986 that is brought [H8714]   H2873 to the slaughter [H8800]   H3045 ; and I knew [H8804]   H2803 not that they had devised [H8804]   H4284 devices H7843 against me, saying, Let us destroy [H8686]   H6086 the tree H3899 with the fruit H3772 thereof, and let us cut him off [H8799]   H776 from the land H2416 of the living H8034 , that his name H2142 may be no more remembered [H8735]  .

²⁰ H3068 But, O LORD H6635 of hosts H8199 , that judgest [H8802]   H6664 righteously H974 , that triest [H8802]   H3629 the reins H3820 and the heart H7200 , let me see [H8799]   H5360 thy vengeance H1540 on them: for unto thee have I revealed [H8765]   H7379 my cause.

²¹ H559 Therefore thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H582 of the men H6068 of Anathoth H1245 , that seek [H8764]   H5315 thy life H559 , saying [H8800]   H5012 , Prophesy [H8735]   H8034 not in the name H3068 of the LORD H4191 , that thou die [H8799]   H3027 not by our hand:

²² H559 Therefore thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H6485 , Behold, I will punish [H8802]   H970 them: the young men H4191 shall die [H8799]   H2719 by the sword H1121 ; their sons H1323 and their daughters H4191 shall die [H8799]   H7458 by famine:

²³ H7611 And there shall be no remnant H935 of them: for I will bring [H8686]   H7451 evil H582 upon the men H6068 of Anathoth H8141 , even the year H6486 of their visitation.
