Ἀμφίπολις, (εως, ἡ, Amphipolis, the metropolis of Macedonia Prima (cf. B. D. under the word ); so called, because the Strymon flowed around it (Thucydides 4, 102) formerly called ἐννέαὁδοί (Thucydides 1,100): Acts 17:1 (see B. D.).
