«On one occasion a student was afraid to go home, because he had failed the algebra exam. Distressed by the situation, he decided to get home and quickly tell his father about it. With a sincere face, between sadness and embarrassment, he explained everything to his dad, even the reason why he had failed the exam. That father could not contain himself in front of that face of sincerity, he simply hugged him and whispered to his son’s ear: “Have peace, I am by your side to help you, this will pass.”»
The word of God tells us that in order to receive forgiveness, each of the faults or sins must be confessed. Although God knows everything; He hopes that people will come and tell him about their weaknesses, mistakes and sins, so He can heal their lives and provide the necessary help.
According to Adam Clarke Bible Commentary «Sin exists in the soul after two modes or forms: (1.) In guilt, which requires forgiveness or pardon. (2.) In pollution, which requires cleansing. Guilt, to be forgiven, must be confessed; and pollution, to be cleansed, must be also confessed. In order to find mercy, a man must know and feel himself to be a sinner, that he may fervently apply to God for pardon; in order to get a clean heart, a man must know and feel its depravity, acknowledge and deplore it before God, in order to be fully sanctified.»
Just as the son in the story was able to find forgiveness, mercy, help and rest for his soul when he confessed his fault to his father, today you can also receive these benefits from God if you get close and confess your sins to him. Stop living in the agony of sin that overwhelms you and keeps you spinning in the same place. Come to God, talk to him, accept his forgiveness and experience the beautiful gift of his mercy.
«Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.» (Proverbs 28:13).
Heavenly Father, thank you for your love, thank you for this day and this truth that reveals to me your character of fidelity to your Word and to each of your promises. For this reason, today I come before you acknowledging that I am weak and that I have failed you; I open my lips and my heart to honestly confess all the bad things I have done. Lord, I ask you to forgive me, to cleanse me with your precious blood and to manifest your mercy once again in my life, that beautiful mercy that is renewed every morning. I make the decision to separate myself from all filth to live a life according to your will. I ask you to help me be faithful to you and to keep my life clean from all contamination so that one day I will see face to face the beauty of your holiness. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
