and did not inquire of the LORD. Therefore He killed him and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.
and enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

He didn’t consult the LORD, so the LORD killed him and gave the kingdom to David, Jesse’s son.
for he did not trust in the Lord. Because of this, he caused his death, and he transferred his kingdom to David, the son of Jesse.
